Install the extension
How to install BeeSensible in Chrome or Edge, sign in with Google, Microsoft or a sign-in link, and check that highlights appear.
The BeeSensible extension highlights sensitive data while you type in AI tools, email and chat, and it runs in Chrome and Edge. This article is for anyone using BeeSensible for the first time, for example after receiving an invitation email from your organisation. Installing the extension, signing in and checking that everything works takes a few minutes in total.

Open the BeeSensible page in the Chrome or Edge store, or use the link in your invitation email, and add the extension.

Pin the icon to your toolbar through the puzzle piece, so you can open the extension with one click later on.

Click the icon and sign in with Google, Microsoft or a sign-in link by email, using the address your organisation invited you on.

On a managed workstation, your IT department has already installed the extension, and signing in happens automatically or with one click.

Add the extension
Use the installation link in your invitation email, or open the BeeSensible page in your browser's store:
In the store, click the button to add the extension and confirm in the window your browser shows next.
Sign in
Click the BeeSensible icon in your toolbar. You can sign in in three ways:
- With Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft. Use the account with the address your organisation sent the invitation to.
- With Continue with email. Enter your work address and click Email me a sign-in link. You receive an email with a button, and as soon as you click it the sign-in screen continues by itself. You do not need a password for this.
On a managed device you see a single button instead, Continue with work account, or signing in starts by itself and you briefly see "Signing in with your work account...". The other ways to sign in are linked below the button.
The sign-in link has not arrived
First look in your spam folder and check that you spelled the address correctly. BeeSensible only sends a sign-in link to an address that already has a BeeSensible account, so use the address from your invitation, or sign in with Google or Microsoft. To start again with a different address, click Use a different e-mail address on the waiting screen.
Try it out
Open a supported app, such as ChatGPT or Gmail, and type a sentence containing a made-up phone number, for example +44 20 7946 0958.
No highlight appears
Click the icon to check that you are signed in, and make sure you are typing in an app that BeeSensible supports. Then refresh the tab, especially if it was already open before you installed the extension. If that does not help, Troubleshooting lists the remaining checks.
If the pop-up asks for the desktop app
If the pop-up shows Desktop app required, your organisation expects you to use the BeeSensible desktop app alongside the extension. You can download it with the button in the pop-up or from the download page. On a managed device, your IT department may already have installed it.
Your settings
You open your settings with the settings icon in the panel. There you choose your Language (System, English or Nederlands) and your Theme (System, Light or Dark), and you find the masking switches. At the bottom you see the name of your organisation and the extension version. If you see a Managed by your organisation card there, your IT department handles signing out and switching accounts.
Notices about AI tools
When you open an AI tool that your organisation has made a decision about, BeeSensible may show a notice. If your organisation allows the tool with limits, you see the condition that applies. If the tool is not allowed, you see the alternative your organisation recommends. What a notice about an AI tool means tells you more.
Updates
Your browser updates the extension automatically through the store, so you do not need to do anything yourself. You can see which version you are using at the bottom of your settings.
